National Geographic magazine cover

#10 National Geographic (June 1985)
Photographer Steve McCurry immortalized the haunted eyes of a 12-year-old refugee in a camp on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border on this magazine cover. Soviet helicopters destroyed her village and family, forcing her to make a two-week trek out of the perilous mountains of Afghanistan. The photo became a National Geographic icon after it was published on the cover in June 1985. Since then, this raw, untouched image has been used on rugs and tattoos, making it one of the most widely reproduced photos in the world.
i this photograph because its like the perfect photo her eyes are super pretty and it shows her emotions you can see her emotion in her eyes it looks like shes in fear and it really nice lighting and the colors she is wearing and kinda making the photo look nice but other than that i really like this photo !

Magazine Cover Introduction:

  1. Never trim a printout, mount it beautifully, and display it with its alternates on the finely polished surface of the conference-room table.
  2. print out all the alternates as hard copy, trim them accurately to magazine size and glue them onto old issues
  3. If the cover pops out from its background, don’t weaken it by fussing with it
  4. gather copies of what your targets might be reading, including your competition, of course. Mock up an executive’s in-box or tabletop arrangement in some way, and place yours among them
  5. Emotionally irresistible

Lytro Warm-up

  1. What i saw happen was the subject changing on the part that looked blurry in the photo
  2. by also focusing on the other subject on a blurry part in the photo
  3. something the photographer might wanna know is to keep the same aperture and iso for each subject hes going to shoot
  4. to be honest i do think this product is worth money because you can change the subects in the photos and it something you can play with so i think it really cool !

Self Portrait and Portraits Part II

for my assignment my model is going to Michelle forest of the stage . i will try to make my photos successful by having good rules

i like this photo because it looks like these couple are enjoying there walk

i like this photo because i looks like a peace full day and there enjoying walk
i also really like photo because they cropped everyone and the man looks like he has proud of what he does
i like this photo because i like the way the girl took a picture of her face and then took another but covering her face and with the picture on her face

i like it because its like pretty day and the red makes the photo look good

i like this picture because it has a lot of creativity  and alot of imagination i like there way of thinking.

3. Think about your motivation and emotions: Blankly staring at the camera rarely gets good results. Be silly, don’t be afraid to over-act. The worst that can happen is that you fill up your memory card with useless photos; but you might also find yourself with a proper gold-nugget of a self portrait
  1. Use props! Are you a dad and a rocker? Bring your kid and your guitar. Are you a photographer? Add camera gear. Painter? Paint. Poet? Words. Make-up artist? Guess… You get the idea.
2. Have fun with it. Be sexy. Be yourself. Be awesome. Be different. Be creative. Whatever you do, have fun with it. That’s part of the point, after all.

for my assignment my model is going to Michelle and i was thinking to go to the mini forest here at school or the stage . i will try to make my photos successful by having good rules

Portraits and Self-Portraits

i think what makes a good self portraits are imagination and creative . also telling right away what the point is like getting to the point. also kinda showing emotions in the portraits. that's what i like make a self portraits look good.

Ethics in Fashion Photography

  1. the changes that were made to the models face was in the computer were they made her lips bigger her eye brows thicker they made her neck longer they made her shoulders smaller and also her eyes bigger
  2. i mean to put the make up on her is ethically okay but to change her neck, eyes, lip, like that is not ethical because it not what or who you really are and that what they expect from you.
  3. well kinda because someone might wanna look like that when its not really how the person looks like
  4. some changes that were okay like how they changed her eyes because you cant really tell but the thing that were not okay were like making her neck longer and also making her eyebrows thicker and her eyes bigger
  5. the differences between fashion and photography and photojournalism are that there all a different a ways of showing art.
  6. it doesn't really effect ethical i think

Takakanonuma Greenland, theme park in Hobara, Japan

  • i would like to go and take photos this theme park in Hobara Japan because it seem like a creepy movie place. its also very vintage its was build in 1973 but is was actually opened in 1986 and it closed in 1999.in the pictures the theme park seems like a haunted park because there a lot of fog and the rides are all old and rusty.and also seems like some one died in the rides.
  •  the five abandon places i would like to go and take pictures would be hotel, school, old hospital, church,a old mansion.
  • Linda Vista Hospital

  • i think it would be really cool to take pictures in this hopital because you kinda get to se the old thing that were there and imagen the way they were before.also get to see the old things people got to use and were used . and also ive always wanted to to go and see something abandon like this and give me goosebumbs while im seen it
  • if i got to go this this trip i would 1st need to buy plane tickets and of coures my camera tripod money fresh clothes because this trip would be california i would also need permission a ride maybe people what can help me with my equitment  i guess those would be the thing i need to have

Photo Manipuation And Ethics

i think this is the least unethical because it kinda looks it is her body and many people would believe that
i think is an unethical photo because the picture is showing  like they were agree with a plan
  1. the main idea of the passage is like telling you examples for thing that happened and people photoshop them and tried to fool people . in one photo they tried to make the it seem like an all men cabinet when really there was to women and replaced with men head. also they duplicated on one of the the bombs and put it on a bomb that didn't launch
  2. i think this is unethical because people might think its real and they might fall for it and i don't think people should mess with these kinds of things

National geographic warm up

i really like this photo because it has nice warm colors and it also looks like the city is filled up with snow. But its actually fog and also the building look so futuristic. the sun give the city such a nice color and the big fog cloud look like smoke and i just really like this photo!

some were i would like to take a picture to enter the contest would be maybe time square wile all people and the big lights are on

fixed photo shoot post shoot reflection

  1. when i took the photos i learned that if the shutter speed and the ISO number changes it might be darker or it might be washed out
  2. i noticed that in some pictures they there came out nice and clear and other were dark and unclear
  3. if the ISO is higher then the picture will come out nice and clear but if the ISO is low then the picture if be all dark
  4. this tells me that if the ISO is higher the photo is going to be clear and nice but it the ISO is to then the  picture might be washed out with to much light and hard to see
  5. 6.  f- stop : 4.5 , ISO :2OO,  Shutter speed: 1/15 , Focal length: 33.0 , lighting:
  6. i can see the difference if you focus the camera and you have high ISO then you will have a clear and nice lighting picture  but  if its all the opposite then the picture will be dark and probably not very clear to see the photo
7.  i have to considerate next time on ISO

    Africa

    1. my reaction to the power point was i thought it was really awesome and impressive the photographer did a great job
    2. my favorite photo was the first one of the power point the one with the elephant standing up with it trunk in the water and the elephant is just looking strain
    • the camera he used was a short leans camera the ones we used
    • to show them how the animals are in danger
    • his hope i guess they are to make people help them

    Academic Shoot reflection

    1. think some challenges were some teacher not letting us in or it was to dark and trying to find some of the rules i think it those were some challenges for me
    2. what technical aspect that i thought the most was trying to hold the camera and trying not to move much
    3. i think if i were to get to do the assignment again i would try to find of a better picture of rule of thirds
    4. i think i would do the same things by focusing and and zooming
    5. i think  that if i were to go out and shoot again i think it would be easier to do and find balance and lines of would be easier to find that rules
    6.    i think to me that rule of thirds was the hardest to find
    7. i think the rule that i don't clearly figure out is rule of thirds

    Lines

    1. i think i followed the rule well because it seems like the the flag is coming out of the head
    2. the subject is the body and the flag
3.i think it clear for a person to notice the subject but not that clear
    4. i think i could of done better by only focusing on the body and the flag and leaving out the rest on the picture and i could of done by geting closer
